In the spirit of the release of Sex And The City 2, we decided to filter through our closets and piece together some creative and fun looks. As young girls we always enjoyed playing dress up…..some things never change. So break the rules, mix-and-match, and be inspired.
Last night many women (and some men) gathered together to watch a private screening of Sex and the City 2, including myself and 2 of our close friends. Unfortunately, Jen could not attend and we missed her greatly. The movie was fantastic! I would have to say that I relate mostly to Carrie! Can you say wardrobe envy! I would take every one of her Halston Heritage dresses! They are amazing! If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I highly suggest watching it!

We are both blessed with two children of our own. Each of us a boy and a girl. Much of our time is spent reading Dr. Seuss, playing Candy Land or Webkinz, taking trips to the park, cleaning, bathing, feeding and most importantly, shaping our amazing children to be confident, loving, respecting, and strong. When we’re not doing that, we find time to invest in Jada Style Guide (which by the way JADA is created from our children’s’ initials). So cut us some slack when you pick up on a typo or silly picture because chances are it was 1:00 in the morning or it had been one of those days. For those of you who are moms or are shopping for a special gift for a mom, we have some of our favorite pieces below.
One of my dearest friends dad, Tom Carley, is a “mobile” jeweler. During a visit with my friend and her family we played “jewelry store”. Of course my intentions were only to look and never to make a purchase. Laugh if you’d like….we all know where this is going. After expressing how I would love a ring with two bands each to represent a child, he came up with the ring you see below. How could I resist? To elaborate further, those of you who do not know me, I have twins. I’m very careful to see them as individuals and not refer to them as “the twins”. That said, Tom created this ring to have the same birthstone in two shades representing the the two kids individually. I’m a pretty sentimental person and love the personal value in this ring.

Because we were so excited to learn about the charm necklaces offered by Stella & Dot, we thought we would share them with you. Last week we promised you more Nautical-wear. We were waiting for the perfect day to photograph our next look in the “Sailor Stripes” trend. Friday was a beautiful day on the beach of Lake Michigan, actually better than we expected! We chose outfits that can be worn both day and night simply by choosing a flip flop/ sandal for day and a heel and jewels at night. We are definitely a fan of transitional wear.

On a monthly basis we gather with a group of lovely ladies who are involved in a local service league. We serve the community by devoting time to worthwhile projects as well as by giving financial aid to organizations that are involved in community service. Typically our meetings are held at the different members homes. This month we opted to gather at a local sushi restaurant, Jelly’s, located in Grand Haven, MI. On this particular evening, Jelly’s not only offered breathtaking views of Lake Michigan but a beautiful sunset.

On a more serious note, after reading a feature from www.instyle.com regarding the top 5 things you should be wearing our intentions were to create outfits based on on their number one pic, Sailor Stripes. It is no secret that we feel more confident when we are dressed in a cute outfit. What about when we are baring all in a swimsuit. We all want to accentuate our best features and hide those that aren’t so perfect. What does that mean? When shopping for a suit, your number one objective is to always aim to balance your silhouette. Here are a few useful tips to help you as you enter into the dressing rooms with your arms full of suits.
Always have your camera readily available when trying on swimsuits. Whether at home or in a dressing room, photograph yourself with the suit on using the mirror. We all have chosen an article of clothing we love at the time of purchase, and then…the dreadful photos come back after we wore it and we say to ourselves…”what was I thinking?!” Point, click, view, and remember…the camera doesn’t lie
You don’t have to bare all to look amazing. Show off your best assets. Most one-piece suits show off more back and less tummy. They can accentuate cleavage or hide it. Regardless, some of the most beautiful figures look just as amazing in a one-piece as a two piece. As you scroll down you will see we found some beautiful one-piece suits.
If you’re less blessed on top-FLAUNT it. Don’t over-pad! The Brazilian cut suits are small and lucky for you, they only flatter the smaller busted woman. Another style to look for is the bandeau top. We love this cut. It is simple, classy, and prevents some tan lines.
Blessed on top? Halter, Halter, Halter Top is our top pic. They offer support while showing off cleavage. Look for styles that are cut larger and banded around the midriff. For added support it is essential that the suit has under-wire and ties both around the back and neck. If a one-piece suit is more your style, be sure the top offers support and always choose a wider shoulder strap over a spaghetti strap for added comfort. A classic tank is an ideal fit as it offers a structured top and much support.
If you have a short torso and/or short legs we love the concept of mixing and matching top and bottom. Pattern is key, preferably vertical stripes. A great option for you would be to stick with a solid bottom and vertical striped top which causes the eye to be drawn upward. Another feature to look for whether you are in the mood for a one or two-piece is a high cut bottom. This will elongate your legs. If one-piece suits your fancy, we suggests a solid color with a sexy plunging neckline.
For the supermodel…..if your body is long and slender. We are envious! At the same time we realize there are downfalls to every figure. We understand you don’t want to look long and lanky. Our advise……embellish!! Embellishments are HOT this season and lucky for you, you wear them best. Look for bright colors and fun fabrics. As for the one-piece, go strapless and add roaching or ruffles.

It’s no secret that financial distress lurks over us. Just because many of us are forced to make financial cutbacks doesn’t mean we can’t still look nice. We have decided to compose some versatile outfit combinations. Some items may be more expensive but if it’s an item that can be worn from day to night and is a classic piece, we feel it is worth spending a little extra. This is where CPW(Cost Per Wear) comes to play. Jeans for example have a low CPW—-they are worn often, with anything, and are worn year round. A trendy, high fashion, single season shirt on the other hand we would consider to have a high CPW. Now that we have clarified that, take time and explore just how versatile denim can be.
